Sixt Switzerland Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

General Rental Information
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
Driving licences from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if:
a) no visa has been entered in the passport.
b) the customer has a visa in his passport and at the time of hire has not been in Europe for longer than 6 months. If he has been in Europe for longer than 6 months, he must present a driving licence from an EU country.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up!

Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of CHF 30.00. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations can be made online or in writing and must be addressed to:

No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Age Restrictions
Minimum age in Switzerland is 20 and the driver has to be in possession of a valid driving licence for at least 1 year.
Minimum age and possession of a valid driving licence in Switzerland is:
20 years/1 year for vehicle groups MBMR to CWMR,
21 years/2 years for vehicle groups IDMR to LDAR, ETMR, CTMR, ITMR, IFMR, SFMR, FFMR,
25 years/3 years for vehicle group XDAR and all other Special Cars,
30 years/3 years for Jaguar XK.
A Young Driver Surcharge of CHF 15.- per day, max. CHF 150.- applies for drivers under 25 years.

Conditions of Payment
Flexi Tariff
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
Cash payments are only accepted for vehicles from the CLMR group (only with permission of the branch manager) and for vans. The maximum hire sum is CHF 600.00.

Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: Eurocard/Mastercard, AmericanExpress Card, VISA Card, Diners Card. We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.

Generally
A deposit of up to three times the hire price is charged to the chosen means of payment as a security. The deposit for high-value vehicles may differ. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

General Insurance Conditions
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of CHF 3.0 Mill for personal injuries and material damages. Maximum cover for personal injuries is CHF 3.0 Mill per injured person per insured event. Insurance coverage is limited to Europe only.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Reduced Liability (LDW)
Reduced liability removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.
If LDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.
If LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
CHF 1,000.- for Economy - Standard, Trucks
CHF 1,300.- for Full Size - Xtraordinary
CHF 1,500.- for all Special Cars.

Theft Protection (TP)
Theft Protection removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft.
If TP is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.
If TP is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
CHF 1,000.- for Economy - Standard, trucks
CHF 1,300.- for Full Size - Xtraordinary
CHF 1,500.- for all Special Cars

Tire and Glass Coverage (GT)
Tire and Glass Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If GT is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If GT is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: EUR 0.-.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
By taking out personal accident insurance the insurance coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.
By taking out PAI the limit of liability is:
CHF 40,000.- for invalidity
CHF 20,000.- for decease
Unlimited amount for medical costs (up to a maximum of 5 years).

Delivery & Collection
During Opening Hours
For delivery and collection service a charge of CHF 50.- applies. The fee includes 20 km, each additional kilometer will be calculated with CHF 2.-.

Out of Opening Hours
Delivery/Collection Service is on request. Please contact the local rental station.
An out of opening hours charge for Delivery/Collection Service may apply.

One-Way Rentals
National
One-Way Rentals within Sixt locations in Switzerland are free of charge except from special cars. For convertibles (*T**) and 4x4 vehicles (*F**) a oneway charge of CHF 250 applies.

International
All international One-Way Rentals are on request. Please contact the local rental station.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Vatikan City.
Cross boarder rentals with Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and VW cars as well as with Jeeps/Offroader are not allowed to the following countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithunia, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
It is allowed to enter these countries with all vehicles of car groups IVMR, SVMR and FVMR (including all Mercedes-Benz) and vans.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.

Premium Location Fee
A Service Fee of 19% on the non reduced basis rental rate (T&M) occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

Registration Fee/Road Tax
A Road Tax of CHF 4.00 per day, max. CHF 48.00 per month occurs.

Refuelling Charge
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise our current refuelling charges will apply.

VAT
8%
All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs).
For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.

Terms of booking on this website

In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. Liability

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
